Smoked Salmon Chowder

Serves 4 (Main course)Salmon Soup - slide



4 bacon slices, cut into pieces

½ C. diced sweet onion (or more…if you like onion J)

1 C. diced celery (dice your onion and celery into ¼ – ½ in. dice)

1 lb. red (boiling) potatoes, peeled and diced into 1-in. pieces

½ tsp. fresh minced garlic

1 scant tsp. salt

½ tsp. black pepper

1 C. water

2 C. whole milk or light cream, heated until warm but not steaming – DIVIDED

2 T. all-purpose flour**

1 lb. skinless smoked salmon fillet, cut into 1-in. pieces*

1 T. unsalted butter


2 T. fresh chopped dill

½ tsp .Cavender’s All-purpose Greek seasoning

½ tsp. cayenne pepper

* You can use a good quality canned, smoked salmon, or smoke a whole fillet on your grill

or indoor smoker

**If you like a thicker soup, you may want to add an additional  2-4 T. flour
